Nativity of Mother Mary celebrated

Belvai, Sep 8, 2026: The Belvai Parish community came together in joyful devotion to celebrate Monthi Fest, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. 

The festivities began before Mass with the solemn blessing of the newly harvested paddy corn by Rev. Fr. Thomas Dmello, followed by a heartfelt flower-offering ceremony where parishioners paid floral tributes to Mother Mary.

A devout procession then led the faithful into the church for the solemn Festal Mass concelebrated by Parish Priest Rev. Fr Joseph Alponse Cardoza. Rev. Fr Francis Fernandes delivered the feast homily. As a symbol of thanksgiving and community gratitude, blessed paddy corns were distributed to the Parish Pastoral Council members, feast muddoms, sponsors, and all the parishioners.

After the Mass, sugarcane was distributed to all gathered, capping off a traditional, grace-filled celebration.
