Women's Day 2026 celebrated by Stree Sangatan 

Belvai, March 15, 2025: International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Belvai Parish Church Hall, organized by St. Anna Stree Sangatan.

The programme was graced by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Cardoza, Deanery Stree Sangatan President Sabitha Rodrigues, Secretary Wilma Crasta as chief guests, and Parish Council Secretary Jacintha Rego, 21 Commission convenor Steevan Tauro, Convent Superior Sr Evlyn Crasta, Deanery Vice Secretary Veera Pereira, Belvai Unit President Sabina Tauro, and Secretary Leena Dsilva were present on the dias. The event commenced with a prayer followed by the lighting of the lamp.

In her address, Sabitha Rodrigues congratulated the women of the parish and appreciated their dedicated service and contributions. Delivering a meaningful message, Jacintha Rego emphasised the importance of women prioritising their health along with their responsibilities. Rev. Fr. Joseph Cardoza highlighted the dignity of womanhood, stating that being born as a woman is special and every woman deserves respect.

On the occasion, three women were felicitated for their contributions, and financial assistance was extended to a deserving family. A lively Bible Housie game, conducted by Neetha Fernandes, added joy to the celebration, and prizes were distributed to the winners.

The programme began with a welcome address by Belvai Unit President Sabina Tauro and concluded with a vote of thanks by Anitha Maschernhas. The event was compered by Lavina Cardoza.
