Nativity of Mother Mary 2025 celebrated

Belvai, September 8, 2025: The parishioners of St Martin de Porres Church, Belvai, gathered in large numbers to celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with great devotion and festivity.

The celebrations commenced with the traditional blessing of the new corn by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Joseph Alphonse Cardoza, symbolizing gratitude for the harvest and the blessings of nature. Following the blessing, a solemn procession was held, with children and parishioners carrying flowers and singing hymns in honor of Mother Mary.

The highlight of the event was the distribution of blessed new corn and sugarcane to all the faithful, fostering a spirit of unity and sharing within the community. The feast concluded with a special Mass and prayers for peace and prosperity.

The celebration reflected the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual traditions of the parish, bringing together families and individuals in a vibrant expression of faith and thanksgiving.
