Belvai Parish Observes 79th Independence Day

Belvai, August 15, 2025: The 79th Independence Day of our nation was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at St. Martin de Porres Church, Belvai, on 15th August 2025.

The celebration began with a thanksgiving Holy Mass, offered for the nation, invoking God’s blessings of peace, harmony, and progress for all its citizens. The Eucharistic celebration was led by Rev. Fr. Lawrence Dmello and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Herald Dcunha and Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Alphonse Cardoza.

After the Mass, the faithful, parish associations, and youth gathered in the church premises for the flag-hoisting ceremony. The National Flag was unfurled by Rtd Nb/Subedar Gilbert Madtha of our parish, accompanied by the singing of the National Anthem by all present. 

ICYM Belvai organised this event.

Parish Council Vice President Lavina Cardoza, Secretary Jacintha Rego, 21 Pastoral Commissions Convenor Veera Pereira, and Lions Club Belvai President Janet Dsouza were present. 

ICYM Belvai President Sweeta Dmello welcomed, Secretary Sweedal Tauro proposed a vote of thanks, and Viola Dsouza compered the event.
