Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakal visits Belvai Parish

Belvai, August 18, 2025: The parish community of St Martin De Porres Church, Belvai, experienced a moment of great joy and blessing with the visit of Most Rev. Dr. Varghese Chakkalakal, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Calicut.

During his visit, the Archbishop solemnly blessed the newly installed statue of St. Martin De Porres seeing Divine Infant, the Holy Redeemer, the new Bible stand, Tabernacle, Crucifix, as well as the newly painted main entrance door of the church. His presence and blessings added spiritual significance to these new additions, which will serve to deepen the faith and devotion of the parishioners.

The occasion also included a felicitation ceremony for the donors, who generously supported the church’s initiatives. The parish community warmly felicitated the Archbishop himself in gratitude for his pastoral care and leadership.

Archbishop's batchmate priests, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Fr. Denis D'Souza, and Fr. Rocky D'Souza, and Parishioner priests Fr. Lawrence Dmelleo, Fr. Harry D'Cunha, and Fr. Michael Santhumayor were present.

Sr. Jacintha compered the programme, while Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Alphonse Cardoza extended a cordial welcome to the Archbishop and gathering. The vote of thanks was proposed by Parish Council Vice President Ms. Lavina proposed vote of thanks
