80th Independence Day Celebration 

Belvai, Aug 15, 2026: The parish community of Belvai gathered in large numbers to celebrate the 80th Independence Day of our nation with great enthusiasm, patriotism, and solemnity.

The celebrations commenced with the Eucharistic celebration, offering special prayers for the peace, harmony, and prosperity of India, as well as for its leaders and citizens. Following the Mass, the faithful assembled in the church premises for the solemn flag-hoisting ceremony. 

Parish Priest Rev. Fr Joseph Cardoza, Parishioner Priest Rev. Fr Ivan Dsilva SVD, chief guest, Mr Alwyn Quadros, hoisted the Tricolour flag, accompanied by the proud rendering of the National Anthem by all present. 

In the address delivered on the occasion, the speakers highlighted the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and reminded everyone of the responsibility to uphold the values of unity, justice, and brotherhood in daily life, and stressed the need to take up government jobs and to serve in the military.

ICYM Belvai organised the flag hoisting ceremony, the event concluded with the distribution of sweets to all present, marking a joyous end to a meaningful morning of remembrance and civic responsibility.
